Woodworking and nature exploration as kids craft their own wooden Thin Hama boards

This two day session blends woodworking and nature exploration as kids craft their own wooden game boards and forage for madhoshi as game pieces. By the end of the second day kids will take home their own handcrafted set to play with family and friends.

Day 1 - Crafting the Board & Foraging
- The Wooden Board: Introduction to woodworking skills, learning how to measure, sand, and prepare the wooden surface for the Thin Hama board
- The Madhoshi Hunt: A nature walk to forage for Madhoshi seeds, traditionally used as game pieces.
- Skill Focus: Developing patience and fine motor skills through precise sanding and natural material collection.
- Completing the Craft: Finalizing the game board and organizing the collected pieces into a complete set.
- Learning the Strategy: Introduction to the rules of Thin Hama, understanding the rhythms of the game and how to outmaneuver your opponent.
- The Friendly Tournament: Practicing the game with peers, gaining critical thinking skills and sportsmanship.
- Taking the Tradition Home: Every child takes home their handcrafted wooden board, Madhoshi, and shells to continue the tradition at home.
- A backpack your child can comfortably carry (with their belongings inside) Comfortable clothes for messy outdoor play (footwear should be comfortable for walks) Raincoat & rain boots (if rainy)
- Sun protection items you prefer (hat, sunscreen, etc.)
- Insect /Mosquito repellent (please apply before arrival if preferred and a small bottle can be stored in their backpack for the day).
- Appropriate prayer attire (dholhi/mundu/thaakihaa)
