Day 1
  • focuses on tidepooling at the futtaru side of Villingili, where students safely explore rocky pools and discover common coastal life (algae, nerites, crabs, starfish) while learning about habitats and intertidal zonation (dry → splash zone → shallow water).
Day 2
  • Day 2 shifts into ‘junior scientist mode,’ using two simple belt transects to record what they find and compare results, building real field skills like observation, teamwork, and respectful wildlife handling.
Note
  • Our tidepool sessions are small, structured, and guided by curiosity. Observation is always prioritized, and any handling is brief, supervised, and limited to common species that can safely tolerate it. Animals are returned where they are found, with emphasis on exploration, respect, and care. The goal is to help children find their way back to nature- to feel the textures and smells of the world around them, so they may connect with the living world, and grow into future stewards of the ecosystems that sustain us.
