Connecting with the ocean by snorkeling and learning to observe, identify, and document our reef.

A 2 day experiential learning nature session designed to teach the fundamentals of reef fish identification and scientific counting methods. Students will learn how to recognize major fish families and practice standard surveying techniques. This session is designed for comfortable swimmers.

  • Fish Recognition: Learn to identify major reef fish families by examining body shapes, tail types, behaviors, and color patterns.
  • Field Experience: Learn to use standard field gear.
  • Data Skills: Understand how to accurately count, size, and record underwater wildlife.
  • Ocean Connection: Develop a deeper, firsthand relationship with the marine environment by closely observing and understanding the life on the reef.

  • Insect /Mosquito repellent (please apply before arrival if preferred and a small bottle can be stored in their backpack for the day).
